Cavanaugh Mims
Nuclear Engineer with experience in transportation and logistics, and radioactive waste packaging , environmental remediation, and special nuclear materials disposition.
Cavanaugh has a B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee with over 38 years of professional experience in the areas of transportation and logistics, radioactive waste packaging and disposition, environmental remediation, and special nuclear materials disposition. He served as a senior program/project manager for U.S. Department of Energy managing environmental programs at its national laboratories and production facilities across the United States. As an entrepreneur for over 20 years, Mr. Mims past companies have served the DOE, DoD, well as several commercial nuclear power plants and facilities. Additionally, Mr. Mims has been certified as a Station Nuclear Engineer at the Tennessee Valley Authority ‘s Brown Ferry Nuclear Station and has worked the design of several advanced reactor systems.
He is been the past Board President for the following Boards: University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) Alumni Board of Directors and the Knoxville Area Urban League (KAUL). Mr. Mims currently services on the following Boards: the UTK Tickle College of Engineering Board of Advisers (Chairman), member of the Knoxville Fairview Technology Advisory Board, and member of the KAUL board. Additionally, serves as the Treasurer and the Director of the Finance for his church.
