Kermit is a software development professional and entrepreneur with a background in large software systems, engineering, and the physical sciences. His curiosity and passion for understanding the software's big picture leads him to a variety of roles within organizations.
In 2009, he co-founded Nanomechanics Inc. which was acquired by KLA Corporation in 2018. Nanomechanics disrupted the nanomechanical testing market by bringing high speed testing, ease of use, and low cost of ownership to market. Nanomechanics received multiple business awards for growth in serving their world-wide customer base and two R&D 100 awards. Kermit's primary responsibilities were for software, controller, and technique development. He enjoys all aspects of business development and led intellectual property, strategic planning, customer service and manufacturing initiatives. In 2017, Kermit transformed the sales and marketing department leading to extensive sales growth resulting in the acquisition of the company.
Prior to Nanomechanics, Kermit developed software and managed projects for a variety of process control and measurement instrumentation products. His experience includes a wide variety of markets including textiles, semiconductors, nano coatings, mechanical testing, optics, healthcare, and environmental testing. He has often been involved in helping recent acquisitions grow to become a successful part of their new organization.
Kermit received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Outside the office, he leaves technology behind and enjoys the rivers and mountains of East Tennessee, a great reason to locate and grow businesses in the Knoxville region.
